The masked wood swallow (Artamus personatus) occurs over most of Australia, except the far south-west, north-east and Tasmainia, and is more common in the west of the country.  It resides in flocks of up to 100 birds, which may also include the white-browed wood swallow (A. superciliosus). The masked wood swallow grows to 190 millimetres long and breeds from August to December, laying its eggs in a shallow nest of twigs, grass and stems.
