These attractive little birds are decorated with numerous white spots on their crowns, wings and tails. They favour eucalypt forests, open woodlands and mallee areas and are recognised by their short series of mewing whistles, which they use to keep in contact with each other. Pardalotes are common across the southern and eastern coasts of Australia.
