The grey-coloured lichen, Parmelia sp. create intricate radial patterns as their leafy lobes expand across the rock face. Captured by photographer Peter Nicholas on the rocks of William Bay in Western Australia's south-west. It is just one of approximately 3,600 lichen species found in Australia.
