The short-beaked echidna is known for its amazing biology. Like the platypus, this unusual mammal lays eggs and suckles its young. They do not have teeth so use their long snout and long, sticky tongue to feed on ants and termites. They are widely distributed throughout Australia however can often be hard to spot.
