Known variously as wetj, wedji, kulya, kaya and yallibiri by Aboriginal people in WA’s south-west, the emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) is Australia’s largest native bird and the second largest flightless bird in the world. Emus are commonly found throughout the Australian mainland, including Nambung National Park.
